The year 2020 marks the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower ship from Plymouth UK to Plymouth Massachusetts. This landmark anniversary commemorates the legacy of the passengers and crew who undertook the journey to the USA.
The team at Visit Plymouth commissioned Wallbreaker to produce a highly cinematic video that showcased the 11 core UK destinations and their visitor offering to the US Mayflower descendants. Come 2020, the Mayflower 400 team are expecting a huge surge in US visitors who will travel to these 11 iconic destinations to explore their ancestral heritage and England itself.
Our creative team were tasked with producing an engaging film that would give prospective tourists a flavour of what the UK has to offer in terms of visitor experiences. We set sail (pun intended) on our own epic journey across the UK; travelling from our home in Lincoln to nearby locations such as Boston and Austerfield, right the way through to Harwich, London, Southampton, Dartmouth, Plymouth and even Holland! Totalling over 12 days filming with some 30 plus actors, our film crew has captured some of our most impressive and cinematic shots to date.
This video stylistically combines stunning slow-motion tracking shots, with impressive aerial videography to create a dynamic video that really showcases the specifics of what each location has to offer US visitors.
The video is now being used as a marketing tool for US tourism operators to promote trips to the UK, as well as part of larger targeted Facebook advertising campaign.
